In the UK it is mental health awareness week so for this weeks Guvs Guidance I wanted to share with you one of my favourite charities, Mind.
Mind work tirelessly to make sure everyone struggling from mental illness has the support they need. There is a horrible stigma around mental health illnesses because unlike a broken leg, it’s not something you can physically see. Having suffered from depression myself, I know all too well the way people change when they know you have depression. Mind work to help educate people on the seriousness of mental health illnesses.
I was shocked to read a statistic in the national newspaper that suicide is the biggest cause of death in males aged 18-40. That along is something which needs help to prevent. Mind work to support people who are suffer to other them support and guidance to help prevent people feeling so desperate they have to take their own lives.
As mentioned above I have been affected by depression on more than one occasion and I have to accept it will be something I have to live with for the rest of my life but knowing there are people out there, like at Mind, who want to help always makes it easier.
